What is

For the exhibition Once Upon A Sponge, 20 designers conceptualize and construct unexpected and imaginative narrative objects with the final destination being to show and tell stories through the use of the iconic yellow sponge.

Sponge bag is a prototype, attempting to redesign the paper bag out of an unexpected material, the kitchen sponge. The soft texture becomes utilitarian, as it could be part of the packaging of a fragile or special product, though this does not limit its use as a lightweight carry-bag.

The ribbon is ironed in the middle and cut in pieces in the same length as the sponge’ s sides and is glued between the two volumes in order to create the backbone of the bag. Thus, the sponge bag retains its flexibility and freedom of movement, baring resemblance to a used paper bag. Dim: 52x45x28 cm.
